Staff Spotlight: Matthew Armour

Before joining the ELC team in 2016, Matthew taught English to students in China for two years. He had always loved the idea of training or teaching adults and grew to love teaching English as a foreign language.

At ELC, Matthew is responsible for our Academic English program. He oversees the day and evening Academic classes to ensure they are streamlined and gives guidance to the other teachers.

Matthew is an excellent teacher and his students always appreciate that he takes the time to help each of them individually to achieve their goals. He consistently receives glowing feedback from students who are amazed at how quickly they improve their language skills.

Matthew also communicates with ELC’s pathway partners and coordinates class excursions to their campuses. Recently he has organised several successful “Futures Fairs” at ELC, which allow students to meet with representatives from our pathway partners.

At our most recent fair, we hosted TAFE NSW, Kirana Colleges, Kenvale College and Australian Learning Group. We have received brilliant feedback from students about these events and we greatly appreciate Matthew’s efforts in coordinating such successful fairs.

Currently on his desk: Materials for my next class and student records to file.

Special moments: Every time I see our students achieve the EAP grade that they need for their future studies.
